The drive was long, but took us to quite an interesting area of California. We came upon this dammed-off lake full of boats and jet skiies and swimmers...if you look at the area just above the water level, you can see different distinct levels of veggitation, which I'm guessing correspond to the level of water each season. Even though this particular municipality is about half way between LA and San Franscico, it's climate is very similar to our's here in the valleys of Souther California...the difference is the huge amount of water running out of the mountains and eventually into this basin.
In the valley, on the southern side of the damn, are hundreds of miles of fruit and nut orchards...oranges, lemons, walnuts, other stuff... Other than the green leaves, the landscape is pretty brown...even the cow pastures! (this video was taken on our trip back home, so we're pretty tired as you can tell from my less than excited tone)
