So, I found the largest grove of Redwoods in SoCal...and it's only 40 mins away!!! So, we be crazy not to go, right?!? Oh, we (I) was excited...
Sam was excited to run around (he spent alot of time driving this past week)
We (I) had loaded the stroller full with picnic lunch, treats, water, tripod, etc. before we set out on our hike. At the trailhead, a sign indicated that wheeled vehicles (skateboards, bike, rollar blades) and pets were forbidden...out of respect for, well really just out of basic human decentsy, we turned back, unloaded the stroller, grabbed the backpacks and set off again...
At this point, another sign warned of the dangers of crossing a 'raging creek' and instructed hikers to balance on rocks...careful Dadda, careful Mikie...
A burned tree...strange I thought...
But, as long as Sam and Dadda were having fun!
And then it hit me, a burned tree from Fire Storm '07...that's were I'd heard the name of this particular canyon before :(
So, after much anticipation, we were rounded the corner and readied ourselves to meet the Great Giants of California (you know the ones bigger in diameter than a car)...only to meet the Young Giants of Southern California :(
Sam was impressed by the approaching pooch (who we noticed walked in on a concrete path...we sure are glad that we respected the 'fragile' environment and resisted bringing the stroller! BTW, dogs were strickly forbidden around the Redwoods)
I think the tree on my Dad's front lawn is bigger than this one!
Atleast we had fun at the playground :)
