New Year's Resolutions...

So, I'm viewing our return to California in two ways: temporary (very key to maintaining sanity) and intentional (We want to be here. We chose to be here. This is where we believe God wants us for the time being). As such, I've resolved not only to stop sulking, but to live intentionally in order to make the most of each precious day.

So what does this all mean? Well, I'm hitting the gym regularly, uping our veggie intake, decreasing our sweets consumption, knitting just about every day, and learning and practicing more photography. I've also overcome my reluctance to shower daily by cutting back on water consumption in other ways (water becomes a precious resource when you see so little of it occuring naturally-gotta love dessert living!). We are systematically teaching Samuel new things (currently, we emphazing the word "yes" since he LOVES to say "no"), but we'll continue to teach him new consepts as the oppratunity arises (yesterday, he learned about shadows and today we broke out his little potty-which he LOVES by the way!).

Proof that so far atleast two resolutions have 'stuck':

As much as I do not regret our time in California, it was hard. It is hard to be in another country and feel so foreign. No one really gets that, being that Canadians do not look different. But we are different and it is tough.

I am glad you are focusing on things that will help you through. It is lonely down there. Having goals is good. My goal was to get as much out of California as I could, hence why we went on so many adventures.

Sam is at a great age to explore with you and to keep you company. The second year in CA was way easier than the first.

So hoping for a the best for you guys. Take care of you :) There are times when I wish we were back just so I could hang out with you and Sam.

Hey I know that delicious piece of work! =D Your blog always surprises me because in real life, you don't seem as sad and 'mopey' as you speak of here. I on the other hand was incredibly ugly thrughout my first year. You're doing amazing!
