We've safely (and exhaustively) arrived back in California! After a super early wake up, courtisy of Samuel, we were up at 2am instead of the planned 4am the morning we flew out of Fredericton. So by the time we arrived, got a car, drove home, settled Sam, got a few groceries for breaky, it was 9:30 pm PST (1:30 AST) and we callaped into bed after being awake for 23.5 consecutive hours (ok, we did each get 30 mins sleep on the first plane, but really...).
It broke my heart to take Sam away from our family AGAIN! He keeps asking for people (just this instant he said "bye bye Grampy, Nana, Papa, Nannie, Grampy. Gone, gone." to Adam).
BUT, on the bright side, he certainly isn't forgetting them :) He came to me Tuesday night (the day we arrived) and asked for 'nunie' (a mug). He then took my hand and led me to the fridge and asked to 'water'. I poured a little into his mug and handed it to him. He then cautioned me with a warning ' hot! hot tea!' in his hushed voice, then preceeded to walk around with it in two hands, sipping it and saying 'aww' with a lip smack each time :) Just the way Grampy D was showing Sam with his morning tea! This morning, he said some words in asking for his 'nunie'. I didn't catch them all but Grampy was certainly one of them! He also required a spoon today (I put milk in it today)...
