So, you may remember that when we, the Dykers, moved to California we arrived to meet 'our Canadian Friends'...it seems silly to name your friends based on nationality, but, trust me, finding another Canuck, let alone a whole family, is HUGE in this crazy SoCal world (also known as: The Center of the WORLD).
On our first day here, we were welcomed into their (very loving) home for a homemade meal (HUGE after 20 hr of travel, surviving on peanuts...literally, the resturants were closed by the time we hit TO...so it was peanuts for supper). I'll never forget the feeling as I walked into their apartment: This is a home. It may be temporary (they, as we, prayed to GOD that it was temporary), but it was a place of love, of laughter, of joy...a place of first steps and first words...a real home inspite of strongly longing to be back home...
So, as we walked into their apartment in Halifax, these feelings rushed back and were joined with such a sense of hope, of that light at the end of the tunnel (J scored a fantastic job at SM...I shouldn't say 'scored' because he and Chelle worked extremely hard for this oppratunity) and that one day, we may set up a home at home...
