May 1st, Which Way to the Beach?!?

Rachon had a free pass to California Adventure, the sister park to Disney Land, so she took Sam and me with her and Max yesterday.

We made it a full day adventure with a stop to Target (Sam got watershoes, a noisy bull dozer, a set of Tonka cars for the plane that he hasn't seen yet, a Lightening McQueen-a special treat he got during the parade, some fruit-to-goes and granola bars AND MOTHER's DAY Cards...which may be late :( Sorry Nannie and Nana).

We then set out to find a beach. I need some practice taking beach shots :) We figured we'd stay maybe an hour at the most...keep the boys away from the water, but let them play in the sand. So we pulled up and unloaded and found a nice little spot on the parking lot side of the retaining wall...

Yeah right! Like it could be so simple :) It took the boys, oh, a minute to realize that the action was on the other side of the 2.5 foot wall...then off they ran!

At first, they ran aimlessly...

Then they chased birds...

Then, since it looked like Sam was listening pretty good, I suggest he run for the water. To my HUGE surprise, when we reached high tide line (where all the seaweed was), Sam freaked, saying that the water was going to get him and that he wanted up! Then Max gave him a look and took off bravely for the breakers...

(you need to click to enlarge this...look at each boys face...so precious)

Then Max's fear instinct kicked in and boy did he run back to us at full speed! By the time he reached us (we were never far but you know how distance is the little ones!), he was laughing :)

Sam got over his fear, although he never did get close to the breaking waves. Max found a tide pool and Sam quickly joined him...

And they got wetter...

And wetter...

And is it possible...even wetter?!?

And, you guessed it...

Rachon went back to the car to get some dry clothes and towels and the boys decided it was time to go. So, we started to walk back...until Max spied some sticks!

The boys were pretty chilly, Max wanted a cuddle from Mommy, but Sam was in full play mode.

Sam was so sandy, I put in him these clothes (yes, I admit it! I picked ones that would look good at the beach :) and then changed him again when we got to the theme park.

What a wonderful story with the pics and captions. It was like being there, well not really, but it'll do until you get home. Looks like you all had such an awesome day out. Love you all, Mom
