May 22nd, Sam's a Biggest Boy!

So, when Sam wants to do something new or is doing something age inappropriate, we categorize it: 'that's only for babies,' 'yes, you can do it...you're a bigger boy now..,' 'can we trust you to do this carefully, its a job for bigger boys...' So last night, we moved his mattress to the floor (in anticipation of our visit home next week, since he's outgrown his pack 'n' play). He was quite excited and told us that he's a 'biggest boy now.' ...the downside? Now he thinks he's moved up a level in things he can do! So he took a 'sleep candle' to bed, but told me not to light it...'only birthday cake candles are lite, Mom.' He tried to push buttons on Adam's computer this morning (I say, ' computer use is only for grown ups.' He says, 'and biggest boys,' so mater-of-factly! I held my ground on this one...that's all we need, especially since he's new thing is to watch the Cars movie on our laptops (which, sadly, have screens larger than our tv!).)

Anyway, Adam remembered some Super Nannie advice that we used last night as Sam got up and opened his door and ran out to us over and over and over...but in the end, it was Adam sitting in a chair right outside his door singing lullabies that got Sam to sleep. He got up, well, I lost count of how many times he got up, but there was one time that we were up talking for quite a while. In the end, Sam said, 'my dog crawled up into bed and needs to go to sleep now, Mom. I'll take good care of him, I'm the biggest boy.'

He's growning up so fast! But, he did come over to me this morning and say 'bab-bee' which is my cue to coddle him and cuddle him and shower hugs and kisses on him :) He'll always be my baby!
