August 21st, Story Time

We headed to story hour with Michelle and Brendan in at the Fredericton Public Library. It was a little chaotic...about 50 kids in a modest sized room with parents/babysitters around the parimeter. The librarian read a book, did a wiggly activity like Head and Shoulders or Simon Says, read another book, did another wiggly activity, read another book, did a wiggly activity, then the kids did a craft.

August 22nd, The Train Around the Zoo

We drove to Moncton for a train ride around Magnetic Hill Zoo. We landed just in time to have a quick picnic lunch then "All Aboard!" Brendan was so cute...he walked up to the conductor and said, "The name's Brendan, "B-R-E-N-D-A-N. Nice to meet you." and shook his hand :)

The train ride lasted about 25 minutes and I'd totally recommend it to anyone in the area with a train fan (it's only $5, free for kids under 2 and departs every 35 mins). We didn't see as many animals as I'd hoped, but we did see a bison, zebra, ducks, goats, donkeys, ostrich, an ass, oxen and a grassing african animal and an emu type bird that I can't name. The track is perfect in that there's lots of sharp turns so the passengers can see the engine and conductor frequently!

We then headed to the water park at Centenial Park for a quick splash. Again, chaos! (I think there's so few free fun activities for children then parents overcrowd the ones available.) Sam's not a fan of spriklers in any form or of getting water in his eyes, so he opted to splash in a puddle on the parimeter of the water zone and then he headed to the sand. Brendan, on the other hand, trives amungst chaos and had a wonderful time running and laughing with kids his age. Unfortunately, we had to leave early due to bad behavior, then the day took another turn for the grumpiness when Sam couldn't fall asleep on the drive back (which was during nap time) :( Oh well, we survived and I got Sam down for a nap then played with Brendan while Michelle got a hair cut. Then we ate the yummiest curry dish I've ever had which Michelle had prepared the day before for a quick supper, before we headed out to Mom's house to help her get ready for the Open House the next day. We got back at Dad's to wind down 12 hours after we left that morning...I'm so tired!
