Sept. 8th, Happy 7th Birthday Brendan! (Updated with photos!!!)

My nephew, Brendan, turned 7 today! It's so surreal...even more so since I'm now unpacking boxes and finding the pictures that I displayed in my last Canadian home...and they show Brendan as a baby, toddler and preschooler! But he's such a big kid now!


It was also Brendan's first day of Grade two! I picked him up from school...and of course had my camera ready :) He must have had a great day, because he humoured me with a posed photo! Well, heading to Science East with Uncle Adam may have lightened him mood as well. I'm guessing he talked about it all day, since his teacher wished him a fun time there :P Another little surprise, Sam and I had made cupcakes and decorated them with the Wii Mario Cart symbol of "M"...Brendan was so excited to eat his on the drive back to our house to pick up Adam :)



When Michelle got off of work, she and Grampy Gill came for a birthday supper. I know this picture sucks, but everyone was hungry and not in the mood to pose...I think Adam must have been chewing...


The "Mario" scarf I knit for Brendan was a HUGE hit!!! I can't say the same thing for the super man pj's Adam gave him...they ended up on the floor...eventhough they were Mario colours...

Grampy Gill gave Brendan a car that he will put together himself. He didn't understand what it was and was reluctant to thank Grampy for it...until he understood that it's the same kind that Uncle Mike built as a child and that Brendan LOVES to play with at Grampy's house! But that understanding came later, when my camera was away...


Brendan found a puppet I made in like Grade 6 art class...yup I'm a packrat! Good thing Adam's catholic and locked in for life...otherwise, I might get divorsed over the matter :P Anyway, Brendan had fun with it while we had a leisurely supper...also, he put the candles on his cupcake (I had intended to put the 7 candels on 7 cupcakes, but he had a different, and probably better, idea) and even made one for Sam to blow out (again, his idea and so, so kind!)...



You guessed it: "Take my picture, Mom!!!"


Brendan was very cautious and didn't want to get too close to the fire...


He was a little worried when his first attempt didn't work and he'd have to move in closer...


...a tiny bit closer, but close enough :)

"Really! Don't take my picture" but he was laughing, so I didn't listen :)


Sam and Adam have been getting some wood ready for the winter. Adam has been splitting up a storm and Sam helps lug the wood from the pile to the garage...



PS-I found my camera cord this morning! In my camera bag, although I looked ther 3 times!!! No complaints though. I'm just glad I have it :)
