August 9th, Sam at Three

Sam turns three today! So far, his favourite thing about being three is "cake." (I think we have that on video.) Sam LOVES cars, trucks, trains, fire trucks, monster trucks...you get the picture :) He loves to play imagination games with his vehicles and talks in different voices representing each one (his low voices are my favourite) and he'll play on his own for 20 or even 30 minutes at a time. Since our recent trip to the Wild Animal Park, Sam is also very interested in dinosaurs and we look up different ones on a kids website I found. Sam is still pretty funny and now is starting to get the idea of a joke (thanks to the prankster Matar). He loves to play outside, but now likes more directed play. He doesn't just run to run...he'll play chase or red light green light or race car driving and he's getting fast! After watching Adam leave and arrive on his bike, Sam came up with the concept of going on an adventure bike ride with Dad after supper. Sam says, "do you want to go for a bike ride?" Adam (silently groans) smiles and says, "of course!" Since Sam leads on his trike, it's a pretty slow ride! But they go over to the otherside of our apartment complex and play in some dirt under the picnic tables. Sam recognizes most letters, although he'd be doing better if we were more consistant in our work. We're getting lazy with teaching him most things...we'll do better when things settle down! Sam's favourite colour is red. His favourite tv shows are Caillou, Dora and Diego, and his favourite movies are Cars and Thomas the Train. His favourite people are Mom and Dad. His favourite animal is Angel/Shooter and is a must for night time and nap time. When asked (just now) what his favourite place to go it, he said the Grand Canyon. Since we're asking him, his favourite food for supper is "supper food" (ha, ha!), specifically cheesy noodles. His favourite snack is strawberries (what he's eating now). He says his favourite person to play with is Hannah. His favourite number is three. His favourite person to go on an adventure with is Max (and Rachon, after a moment's thought). His favourite person to go on a bike ride with is dad (big surprise there...I think Adam weighted that question in his favour). His favourite time of day is night time because he gets to go to bed (who is this kid!!!). He's a cool kid.
