August 9th, The Birthday Boy

At the observatory yesterday (pics and videos to follow), I took some three year photos of Sam. He was playing it up for Mike and April, so I got some pretty nice expressions...we were playing the Make a _____ face game, so I'll comment on those...

This is Sam "sleeping"

This is Sam's 'sad' face

Here's 'surprised'

Laughing because Mike was laughing...

this is 'scared'

This is "mad"

"surprised"

"happy" (I should remember this when I want him to smile in photos :) )

This is "confused." For whatever reason, he's made his 'confused' face this way since he was around 18 months...we still don't know what gave him the idea to put his arm to his side :P

Here's confused again...its a crowd favourite :)

Oh and we've been talking to Sam about moving back and living in a new house. He's taking it all in stride. He knows that he's getting the swingset that he played on when we viewed the house. He knows his cousin Brendan is giving him a new bed and his entire Thomas collection and train table. Today while I was talking to Jan about their upcoming visit to our new house (our first overnight guests!!!), Sam asked me about his new real kitten. Uh, a new real kitten?!? I told him that we will not get a real kitten because Dad sneezes around kittens (Adam is allergic). He dropped the subject, but asked a more specific question when I tried to put him down for a nap: "Am I getting the real kitten with the sharp blue nails?" He thinks he's getting the previous owner's cat, who had teflon blue covers over his nails so that he wouldn't scratch the furniture...but still managed to scratch Sam! I tried to explain that the family that lives at the house now will take their cat with them because he's part of the family. He said "they'd be sad if they didn't have him?" I said "yes!" relieved that he understood, but that was short lived...his next statement was "like Grampy Gill was sad when Angel died. Is Angel in a different heaven?" (We've been careful not to tell him that animals go to heaven) So I just said that I'm not sure and that I know that Grammie is in Jesus's heaven because she died, that I was sad but now I'm just happy because that's the best place to be. Anyway, no nap today...his mind is too busy!
