Feb 21st, Claire's Big Day Out

Sam brought his bear, Claire (but sometimes Ryan or Zach), to the park with us this morning. We weren't meeting any friends there, but we just needed a little time outside. Sam has been walking part of the way by himself and is good about holding my or Adam's hand while crossing the street. He's also been singing, "stop, look, listen, before you cross the street." :)

Today, Adam headed to the squash courts before going to work. In the process of gathering up his gear that hasn't been used in 2 years (literally!), Sam found his umbrella stroller. He'd pushed one around yesterday at the park for a good 20 minutes, so I suggested that we take it to the park today.

Thinking that pushing Claire in the stroller would keep him walking instead of investigating the dirt, rocks, pine cones, etc. every five steps, we set out. We made it about a third of the way there before Sam had to join Claire in the stroller...Sam had to hold Claire since this stroller isn't big enough to put her 'behind' him...

Claire/Ryan/Zach usually sits behind Sam, like all his friends who have little siblings and who ride in double strollers...



Today's mode of transportation...



We were so happy to find friends at the park: Nikki and Eliza were there! Nikki ran up to me and asked where her blue bubbles were, so she and Eliza walked home to get them. Meanwhile...

Sam put Claire in the baby swing...

I mean, Nathan put Claire in the baby swing...


Then he wanted in...




Nikki came back and brought her blue bubbles!







In the meantime, more friends came: Simon and Christie!











PS-Adam was home when Sam woke up from nap. Sam immediately says, "Daddy, how was your squash? My squash was AWESOME! I played at my house."
