November 10th, Remembrance Day / Veterans' Day Weekend...

If you haven't already taken a moment of silence to remember all of the soldiers and their families who have gone before us, who are still with us but retired and who are currently serving, please do so now.

I've got such a huge place in my heart for the men and women who have given (and are giving) so much for our freedom (maybe it's having lived 25 years in an Army town, or maybe my parents raised me well). I was so thankful when I got a call this morning from my dear friend asking if I wanted to go to a Veterans' day family event at an air field...

There were men and women from all walks of life, many of them in uniform. Some elderly folks were being helped around by their children, often both in uniform! I was very moved.

On the downside, my camera was in the wrong mode, so I apoligize for the pictures (but obviously not enough to not post them :) )...

We had a family date night! I only mention it because of it's obserdity in a way...Sam had supper then we met Adam at the park for a play. When it got too dark to play (like 5:30pm), we walked to a video store (a solid 30 mins walk), got 3 movies for $5.99 and a 12" pizza for $7.99. By the time we were half way home, we had the pizza gone, so we decided to take a detour to the donut shop to pick up a little dessert :) Now we're just waiting for Sam to conk out for the night then we'll watch License to Wed and enjoy our sweet treats...
