Our day of travel was pretty uneventful (thankfully!)...well, as uneventful as travelling 12 - make that 14- hours with a baby who crawls and tastes EVERYTHING in his path!
Dad and Mike saw us off at the airport in before the sun was up. Sam was in good humour from the beginning. The first plane ride was excellent...Sam was interested in the plane, but fell asleep for about 1 hour of the 1 hour 45 min flight. We landed in Montreal, navigated our way through the airport, claimed our checked luggage, cleared customs without a hitch, ditched our check luggage, found our gate, had some breakfast (pictured below), changed Sam's diaper, then preboareded. The next plane was super nice...tv's in the back of each seat featuring the viewer's choice of movies and tv shows...I watched Wild Hogs (I highly recommend it!) -during which Sam fell asleep- then an episode of the Office (I love that show...I had to try so hard not to laugh out loud while trying not to shake too hard in fear of waking Sam!) then good ol' Arrested Development...then Sam woke up and we had a good play time. The Denver airport was cool...we had to take a train from one concourse to another...then the fun ended. We found our gate, were told to switch gates, went to the new gate where Sam and I were the only people, got a second opinion, went back to the original gate, were apoligized to by the attendants at the original gate, tried to have lunch (Sam didn't care for his apple sauce which made feeding him a challenge), chatted with some fellow passengers, were told our plane was delayed, called Adam and left a message, went back to gate to sit, Sam didnt want to sit, Sam crawled around the dirty carpet, were sent to another gate, went to other gate, chatted more with fellow (peeved) passengers, asked for preboarding, was denied preboarding by (anoyed) attendants, loaded the plane with other passengers, was releaved to have an empty seat beside me, then tried to appease Sam...who by this point was slightly restless. He almost fell asleep about 10 times...but the assistant piolet kept announcing landmarks that we were passing over...the Grand Canyon, Utah's Arches National Park, pretty cool stuff...but Sam was still pretty good. Even though a bit hard to hold, he didn't scream, screech or cry and he received several complements on how good a flyer he was from other (tired) passengers...
Anyway, Adam was waiting and it was so good to hug him again! Sam reached for him right away with a big smile on his face. The drive home was good, with Sam falling asleep pretty much right away. He hasn't seemed to suffer from jet lag...he's gone to bed around 8pm each night and was up at 7am this morning (of course he was up a couple of times during the night)...but we're adjusting to Cali life again. The weather's been nice-high 20's. Sam's teething again I think, chewing like mad and has a bit of a fever, but is relatively in good humor...Enough typing! I'm going to try to post a video to make up for all this reading you've just done :)
