Jan 26th, That's the Way Daddy Does It!

Hypothesis: The difference between moms and dads is fundamental in the way they experience life with a baby.

Experiemental Evidence: By now, I think my reading audience knows that I have one of the best (if not the best!) husband in the world...and Samuel has an excellent, loving, attentive Daddy. That being said, I'd just like to acknowledge a few differences between Moms and Dads as I've seen them...

1. A dad will blame the child for being a messy eater, even though the dad is 'incharge' of the spoon...

2. A dad will interpret a baby's yelling for company as merely the playful banter of said baby with himself...

3. A dad would rather shower everyday while listening to his flesh-and-blood-in-infant-form cry for 10 minutes than not...

4. A dad thinks its great if his baby zones into the boobtube if it means a minute of peace and quiet...

5. A dad thinks a baby is spoiled just because he cries if he's left "alone" (which these days in the Dyker household means if a baby is not held of within his arms reach of a parent at all times)

Discussion: No discussion needed. Moms are always right! All right, I'll add a little context: Before Samuel was born, we came up with the phrase "that's the way Daddy does it" to express any differences of opinion or action. (ie. When Sam's Dad puts away the dishes in a totally different cupboard that Mom usually stores them, Mom remembers to be thankful that he is putting them away and is careful not to correct-scratch that-careful not to suggest another location for said dishes).

Conclusion: Daddies aren't fundamentally wrong, they're just different from Mommies.
