April 15th, Rainy Days won't Stop a Birthday Party!

We enjoyed our first day of rain (lasting longer than 30 mins) since we've been here. Unfortunately, it came on Sam's little friend's outdoor birthday party :-( But, with tarps and lots of big trees for protection, the festivaties went on and no one minded at all! By then it was just misty anyway.

There was a piniatta and bbq and cake and chips and sugary juice...yum!

April 14th, Nannie! I'm Ready, Take Me to the Beach!

PS- Sam is cutting his top FOUR front teeth! OUCH!
April 12/13/14th, Apple sauce gives strong legs ?!?

We've been so busy playing with Sam that I've neglected the blog! So here's a bit of a hodge podge...

Sam tried apple sauce today at lunch...and the verdict??? Not as good as bananas, but not a bad as veggies (other than those delish peas!)

Last night, Sam was exercising his legs a bit...getting ready for hiking with Grampy D this coming weekend...that's right, only 6 more sleeps until Nannie and Grampy D come visit! We're getting very excited (and I think they are too :-) )

Sam waiting for supper on Thursday...looking so cute I couldn't resist a couple photos :-S

April 9th, Eight Months Old!

We really missed this important photo day! But I think Sam did well, considering it was the end of the day and he was a little cranky :) We did two photo shoots, but blogger is giving me trouble uploading pictures, so you'll have to check back tomorrow :o
Times are changing! Sam is much more mobile now and can act on all (or most) of his curiousities...making photo sessions a little more challenging, but all the more rich!

Happy Easter!

We had a turkey dinner tonight (turning on the oven here is a last resort, since it heats up the apartment so much!); we bought a turkey breast (done like the rotisary chickens back home) and a potato and some veggies...I asked adam if we should get a pumpkin pie...he declined. We both agreed afterwards that we should have had pie :( Despite the lack of pie, it was a very good meal...Sam was not as fond of his carrot and pea medley (nicer than saying mush)...I can't beleive I'm still talking about food!
We gave Samuel a bucket and shovel set and cargo pants from Nannie (thanks Nannie!). He's now been playing with each item, in turn, for the last 45 mins! He throws one item, picks up another, studies it, chews it, waves it in the air, throws it and crawls (that's right, I said crawls!!!) over to another item. Op, there's a new trick, Sam just ran the little shovel along the ground and is now banging the big shovel with it. Oh, did I mention the chewing...I think his top teeth are coming in.
Adam is going to his church tonight solo since it runs 9pm to 11pm. Tomorrow morning we'll go to my church ( I hope that we sing "Up from the Grave, He Arose!" otherwise I'll be singing it all day...who am I kinding, I'll sing it all day anyway! It is Easter after all!). Tomorrow, my mom is cooking a dinner and Monday Michelle is cooking for Dad and company. I'll miss taking part :-( And I'll miss the sunrise service tomorrow morning at Oromocto Baptist, my brother is speaking...oh well, there's always next year! You know, Good Friday isn't even a holiday here! Last Friday was Ceasar Chevez day...I think he was a president of Mexico...I guess Californians have their priorities...I just don't agree with them.
Enough typing, enjoy these pictures (notice how well Sam is sitting now!)

April 7th, Apple of our Eye

Sam wanted some of Adam's apple today...I thought it was cute and (you guessed it) took these pics :-)

April 6th, Good Friday

We headed to Good Friday service at Adam's church tonight. It was nice and Sam sat through most of it. I had Samuel in the sling during our outing and when we got home, he was still in the mood to cuddle, so as we cuddled, Adam took these pics...

April 6th, Another Frontier Conquered!

Sometimes I just sit at a safe distance and watch to see what Sam gets himself into...for the second time today, Sam went after the black cable (the first was during a phone call with Sonja...which unplugged the modem and the phone enivitably disconnected the phone...he actually didn't get the cable on his own, but grabbed it when I picked him up/pulled him out)...we'll see what he does tomorrow!

April 4th, Picture from Home

I got this sweet picture of Brendan today (thanks, sis!) and wanted to share it! I can't wait to squeeze those little cheeks :-)
April 4th, Little Surfer Dude

Sam enjoyed his new little ocean outfit from Nana today-even though the closest we got to water were the sprinklers at the gardens :-) Adam and I enjoyed the whopper eggs (good thing we walked today!).

April 3rd, Care from Home

In honor of Easter, we got a couple of packages in the mail from our moms...today we opened the one from my mom (at her request)...all except the Easter cards, of course :-) Here are a couple pictures featuring Sam's new toys...
Sam decided to wake up nice and refreshed at 12:30am last night and as I watched him roll around on the living room floor (until 3:30! uh!), I recalled the last round of "care" packages my mom blessed us with...when I was around 3 months pregnant, my (awesome) mom cooked and froze a bunch of meals (tasty delights like lasanga, meat balls, chicken pot pie and more)...all I had to do was heat them up! It made me think that when Sam has children, I want to be so wise as to do the same...only a mom would think of meeting that need :-)
Oh, I booked my flight home tonight...I arrive May 9th and leave May 30th...so far my itinerary is open, so let me know if you'd like to get together :-)
