August 31st, Surviving the Heat Wave...

To have a formally anounced heat wave in SoCal is not an experience to be envied. Yesterday's high in our backyard( so to speak) was 45 C...YUCK!!! Yesterday at 10am, the 5 sec walk to the laundry room was aweful...I actually had sweat beads on my face...sweat never collects here if you're outside because it is so dry. Today's high was a bit lower...44 C, still hot and gross. Tonight at 8pm I walked to our work-out room and it was like walking through a sauna. Gross!


We went out this morning (grocery store with Bonnie) and this afternoon Sam had two good rounds splashing in the kitchen...and for dessert: chocolate pudding! This sweet boy LOVES chocolate! Is it wrong to coat chicken in chocolate to get your kid to eat it??? We're not that desprite yet, but close :)

We left the house today! That's saying something considering the REDICULOUS heat (we hadn't left the house in about a week). Sam took the opportunity to wear his super cute new shirt (from his little friend Matthew)...

Sam is following in Adam's adventuresome ways I'm afraid. Today he climbed up onto his rocking chair all by himself!!! Quite the feat considering the rocking motion Sam had to contend with :)

August 24th, Mom's club pool party

Sorry for the lack of posts! Thanks to Mel for reminding me that its been 1 days since our Aquarium pics :)

We hosted the mom's club. Sam and I weren't really into it, but we ended up having a pretty good time...we didn't get kicked out, so that's something right???

August 20th, The Aquarium of the Pacific

Tami so kindly invited us to see some fishes today :) I must say that Long Beach is my fav SoCal location so far! The view from the parking garage...

Sam couldn't quite reach the stingrays, but he LOVED watching them swim by...
The Aquarium was so perfect for Sam! He loved watching the brightly colored fish swim around :)

It was hard to get good photos...the rooms were quite dark, so if you flashed you darken the fish...if you don't, you blur Sam...

That's the Queen Mary (not to be confused with the QM II that visits Halifax harbour once in a while) that's permanately docked in Long Beach... (yes, for all you Arrested Development fans, the very vescile on which the final episode was shot!)

August 17th, Mommum little tough guy...

Sam's bruise is looking worse before it's looking better...he reminded us of a football player with his tiny t-shirt, pants hiked up and black eye...(did I mention that he banged his face TWICE in the same day on different parts of the stupid metal lined desk!!!)

Today we went to a HUGE outdoor mall...had to explain...its like an upscale little village of shops and restuarants, lined with cobblestone pathways, with fountains and water features...an playgrounds...

check out Sam! He is walking well outside now, in his sandals...he had a good time following Aston around :)
